Office for Project Services – UNOPS

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is a United Nations (UN) organisation with a mission to help people build better lives and countries achieve peace and sustainable development. As a part of the United Nations family, and as the only self-financed UN organisation, UNOPS is committed to UN values and private sector efficiency. With a mandate for infrastructure, procurement, project management, human resources, financial management and other management services, UNOPS supports peace, security, humanitarian and development operations in more than 80 countries around the world. Apart from the United Nations system agencies, funds and programmes, the partners of UNOPS include international and regional financing institutions, intergovernmental institutions, donor and recipient governments, and non-governmental organizations, as well as foundations and the private sector. These partners call on UNOPS to supplement their own capacities, improve speed, reduce risks, boost cost-effectiveness and increase the quality of their work. In 2020, UNOPS celebrates 25 years since being founded.

UNOPS office in North Macedonia, Skopje, was established in 2018 with the aim to support partners’ efforts to implement the projects contributing to sustainable development of the country. UNOPS is providing meaningful technical expertise in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals by implementing projects that are facilitating the EU integration of the country, providing solutions to long-standing environmental challenges and contributing to a more balanced socio-economic development by strengthening local infrastructure and by supporting new employments. UNOPS projects are being implemented in coordination and active participation of institutions at national and local level. This approach ensures the sustainability of the project results by promoting partner's ownership over project achievements, with the aim of enabling long-term wellbeing of the people.

UNOPS office in North Macedonia is operating under the UNOPS Serbia Project Office, as a part of the Region of Europe and Central Asia (ECR).
